A large number of the fatalities caused paraquat (PQ) are related to its toxicity and the lack of effective treatments [].The guidelines for treating patients with PQ poisoning have not been fully developed, but current treatments include single supportive care and combinations of haemodialysis, antioxidant therapy, immune-modulation, and haemoperfusion []. ‘Immunosuppression’ is widely practised as a treatment of paraquat self‐poisoning. The theory is that as paraquat leads to an acute inflammatory response, interference with this may inhibit the processes that follow that then lead to lung fibrosis and death. Over 150,000 people die each year from pesticide poisoning. Most deaths result from self-poisoning ingestion, rather than occupational or accidental exposures, which are typically topical or inhalational. Severe pesticide poisoning is more common in rural lower- and middle-income countries where pesticides are widely used in smallholder agricultural practice and therefore freely available consumption. Lack of specific antidote and high-quality evidence-based medicine makes the management of paraquat poisoning challenging. Hence, we took up the study to evaluate the clinical features, course and management option for the poisoning. Methods: It is an observational study conducted at HIMS, Hassan. Paraquat poisoning is characterized multiorgan failure and pulmonary fibrosis with respiratory failure. Multiorgan failure with circulatory collapse is a major cause of early death within 3 days of paraquat ingestion. Recent studies suggested that continuous venovenous hemofiltration (CVVH) had a role in the treatment of multiorgan failure promoting hemodynamic stability. We therefore Paraquat (PQ) is a fast-acting and effective herbicide that is used throughout the world to eliminate weeds. Over the past years, PQ was considered one of the most popular poisoning substances for suicide, and PQ poisoning accounts for about one-third of suicides around the world. In contrast, when subjects have been well described previously in general medical texts, for example, carbon monoxide poisoning, the discussion is far more brief and to the point. Since ionic pesticides such as paraquat bind to soil primarily electrostatic mechanisms involving both mineral and organic matter, the [ ] parameter is not as useful for these compounds. The amounts of [sup.14]C-labelled paraquat adsorbed at the different concentration levels on to the clay loam and clay soils are shown in Table 3. Organophosphate poisoning symptoms can range from mild to severe. In more severe cases, a person may die from the toxicity. The length and strength of the exposure will determine the nature of Paraquat intoxication is a fatal problem. Most paraquat intoxications happen through oral administration. We report a case of death after intravenous paraquat injection. There is little clinical data on parenteral paraquat exposure, and we describe this case and fatal progression. Toxic symptoms and severe organ function impairment developed soon after injection. Treatment with repeated Gamier R (1995) Paraquat poisoning inhalation or skin absorption. This study aimed to examine the association between the national public health policy that banned the use of paraquat and the incidence of pesticide-associated mortality. All external causes of death from 2009 to 2013 of Korea were analyzed. The intervention was a national public health policy that annulled the Paraquat (1,1-dimethyl-4,4-bipyridilium dichloride, PQ) is a widely used contact and nonselective quaternary nitrogen herbicide. It was first introduced in agriculture in 1962 and has caused thousands of human deaths, either accidental or voluntary ingestion. Serious exposure to the herbicide paraquat usually results in death, either due to gastrointestinal caustic lesions, shock, and acute respiratory distress syndrome or related to the progressive development of pulmonary fibrosis associated with refractory hypoxemia. We report a case of suicidal paraquat ingestion in a 59-year-old man. Most of the indicators of poor prognosis were encountered in Gamier R (1995) Paraquat poisoning inhalation or skin absorption. The aim of this study is to investigate the molecular mechanisms underlying delayed progressive pulmonary fibrosis, a characteristic of subacute paraquat (PQ) poisoning. Epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) has been proposed as a cause of organ fibrosis, and transforming growth factor-β (TGF-β) is suggested to be a powerful mediator of EMT. To evaluate the efficacy of combined treatment with bone marrow mesenchymal stem cell (BMSC) transplantation and methylprednisolone (MP) to treat paraquat (PQ)-induced acute lung injury. A total of 102 female rats were randomly divided into five groups: PQ, BMSC, MP, BMSC + MP and normal control. After 14 days of PQ poisoning, the survival of rats, wet/dry weight ratio of lung tissue, serum Two pesticides - rotenone and paraquat This may have important implications for the treatment and ultimately the prevention of Parkinson's which can be key mechanisms for future treatment.
